Intergo onderzocht in 2020 op basis van statistieken de risico\u2019s in de binnenvaart waarbij menselijke factoren een rol spelen bij ongevallen. Wat blijkt, in 70 tot 80% van de ongevallen speelt de menselijke factor een rol<\/strong>. Een zorgwekkende conclusie, vindt de sector. Het opstellen van nieuwe regelgeving voor techniek ligt daarbij als eerste voor de hand, maar het opstellen daarvan is pas echt effectief nadat de echte oorzaken duidelijker zijn.

\nDaarom heeft het European Inland Waterway Transport Platform<\/a> namens Europese binnenvaartbedrijfsleven, waaronder IVR en het Nederlandse Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat onlangs aan Intergo gevraagd om dit voorjaar achterliggende oorzaken in stuurhutontwerp en mens-machine interface diepgaander te onderzoeken net als de achterliggende oorzaken in organisatorische elementen in de binnenvaart, zoals communicatie, vermoeidheid en stress, specifieke waterwegen situaties en kwalificaties van de bemanningsleden. De conclusies en bevindingen van de eerste fase van de studie ‘Human factors root causes of accidents in inland navigation’<\/em> zijn hier te lezen<\/a>.
